This problem i have is very annoying. When i network my 2 computers together with microsoft windows xp small office network, the main computer that is connected to the internet starts up fine but the computer that it is networked too only starts up fine when the other pc is on. I have managed to work out why. My computer tries to look for the remote pc on its startup. This is annoying if the other pc is switched off because it wont stop trying to look for it for 30 seconds to 1 minute. This never used to happen and i have got a new network card and still does same problem. I'm wondering if it could be my CPU, RAM or HDD unless it's just a setting on the OS that i haven't come across. I want my computer to start normal and fast if the remote computer is on or off(like it used to). Can someone plz help me?

I am almost sure that there is a registry tweak that can make it stop hanging. I think I remember an option in TweakXP Pro that had to do with that. Gluck in finding your solution

I had this happen once, whereby the second pc would only boot from the network. My problem was a faulty IDE cable which once replaced fixed the problem as it had stopped the pc "seeing" its own HDD.

It sounded to me like he is booting up...but it is taking 30seconds to a min to do so because of the hang while trying to find the other puter.
