When attempting to use Quick Reply, it opens IE instead of my default browser and mail program (Mozilla). Also when going into help that directed me here, it also launched IE instead of Mozilla. BTW Mozilla was already open. I only use IE browser for windows update and for the occasional web page that doesn't work properly with Mozilla. I never use IE for email and do not have anything set up in there as far as email address', servers, ...

Within windows there is a selection for your default browser, your default email program and the program that is used to handle mailto:urls.
You'll need to change these settings to your liking, as MW (and other programs) will use these default settings when doing things like invoking the browser, etc.
MW uses the default email program selection to start your email program after 'process mail' (if you've selected that option) - but it also has the option to select a different program.
As for Quick Reply, MW passes a mailto:URL to the system - and the system invokes the registered handler. There is no option in MW to select a different program, so you must make the selection in windows.
Finding the selection is a bit different in each version of windows, so it's a bit tricky to give instructions. On my Win2k System they're found by opening a Windows Explorer window (not Internet Explorer) then navigating to Tools>Folder Options>File Types. Once you find them, scroll to the URL:mailto (on some systems it's mailto:URL) then edit the selection as you like. |

Thanks rogerw. I found the settings you described (same place in win 98SE BTW) and am now not sure what to change it to? I posted to a mozilla group to hopefully get that answer. Oh, I should say I found the "mailto" but I'm still not sure what to change for the browser?
And thanks Byron, yes, thankfully I am the only user of this computer (who else would want a PII at 450mhz?)

A mozilla help site is probably your best bet...as what needs to be entered is rather specific to the program.
You installer for mozilla should have made the changes for you (or at least offered you the option to change them.) It is possible that a subsequent IE update (via Windows Update) might have undone those changes. You might try to see if re-installing mozilla will set things to rights again.
After composing all of the above, I googled the following. It states that the Mozilla installer is deficient, so re-running it probably won't help. Have a look - maybe it'll help:
This is because Mozilla Messenger doesn't correctly register itself as the default mailto protocol handler on Windows. However, Mozilla Messenger registers itself as the default mail client, which is slightly different. You will have to fix this problem manually.
In Windows XP/2000, select Folder Options in the Control Panel, then click on the File Types tab. Here, browse to the file type called (None) URL:MailTo Protocol and click Advanced. Select the open action and click Edit. Uncheck the Use DDE option and specify the full path to mozilla.exe in the Application used to perform action field. Enclose the path in quotation marks and append -compose %1. The result should look something like this:
"C:\Program Files\mozilla.org\Mozilla\mozilla.exe" -compose %1
Another solution would be to stop using the Mozilla Application Suite and use the standalone mail client Mozilla Thunderbird instead.

Thanks again. Making the one change that you found in google seems to have cured the problem for both the email and the browser, but I'll see what happens when mozilla is closed, I don't want to close it now, I'm in the middle of something else. I did just check windows update, and luckily that still opens in IE.
Nice little group here! I'm curious how many people got the free upgrades for life for sending in $20 back when mailwasher was shareware? I don't often pay for shareware, but mailwasher seemed worth it! About 2 weeks after I paid, they went with FireTrust and stopped the shareware!

Not hardly
Moz browser has a free pop up, flashing banner ad and cookie blocker that has stopped over 400 spammers IE won't allow me to do this
It also has a download manager that prevents spammers from downloading their crap with out my knowledge
Between Moz and MW I have blocked over 800 spammers
