|

Can anyone advise on some funky files that can't delete despite all efforts? Seems the source of unbelievable amounts of pop-up ads, browser hijacking, dumping crazy icon links on my desktop, and I swear these files are propogating too...
1. Adaware, Norton, Spybot detect but can't delete...Hijackthis is clean and doesn't detect anything extraordinary...in SAFE mode still cannot delete, rename.
2. Can't tackle while in Windows...files apparently being locked by login (wholockme?) and I can't quit the process and still run the p.c.?
3. I've got Windows XP Home Ed -- tried the MS 6-disk boot to get to DOS prompt but need a CD to proceed in setup (which I don't have).
4. FYI files incl c\windows\system32\6qo4svc.dll & afvapi32.dll & ajsmsext.dll -- meant to mimick MS files but from some co. called NicTech Networks Inc. And also BetterInternet application files.
Appreciate any dummy-proof instructions for eradication... |

hi MagicTouch,
Thanks -- but regrets, Dr. D didn't work
FYI i did try renaming, unhiding and unarchiving/scheduling it but the damn .dll won't budge even on multi Dr. deletes & reboots. Still locked by my windows login process too...sigh.
Thks for the intro nonetheless, good guy to know. Any other suggestions?

Hi,
Nope 1st idea, file's locked by Win logon "process" so killing explorer "process" won't do it (tried anyway just for grins). 2nd idea, MOB should have done it...dunno why not. I'm really steaming...
Any way into XP Home Ed without logging into Windows?
Without the set-up cd?

did you try moveonboot? link given above. after installing. choose file you want deleted by right clicking it. than choose to delete it. than for it to remove it you must reboot.
one last one that i have used allso free is eraser d/l it install it and try deleteing it with that. if that don,t work do it from safe mode.
