i am having trouble connecting to the internet using IE. MSN messenger freezes when trying to connect. i am using zone alarm pro v. 2.6.362. IEXPLORER is allowed to connect using local and internet but when i open IE the icon does not show up in Zone Alams programs. The only thing in the programs box is services and controller apps.

hello
what o/s you running?
was it able to conect befor?
try removeing ie and mesanger from program controls.and reopen ie and mesanger than click yes to reallow.
allso check your computer for spyware d/l spybot search and destroy, update them run them.
do online scan at housecall anti virus.
if running win 98-m.e do scan disk and defrag. because its sounding like theres something useing up your system resources. not just fire wall as the only cause.

I am using win2k.
It was able to conenct before.
I used TDS-3 to remove trojans and deleted 4 objects and it stopped working shortly after that. Everything internet related will either not connect or freeze. When i close IE, IEXPLORE.EXE is left in the task manager and when i try to end process it says "The operation could not be completed. Access denied."
I tried removing IE from zone alarm and when i run IE zone alarm does not ask for permission.
When i open IE and then close it, it is left is the task manager and if i open it again it creates a new IEXPLORE.EXE in the task manager.

hello
you might try a repair of ie 6 by going to add/remove and remove it.than when the window comes up choose the repair option.
now since you use w2k i,m not 100% sure if this will apply it dose for 98-xp goto start run type sfc /scannow
you will need your install cd.
i have used w2k very little so you may want to wait till some one else can confirm sfc/scannow for w2k.
