Now here is a thread that will teach you how to Uninstall ZAP...mind you know it ain't their fault you might have problem with your purchase..but when it comes to the uninstall they are right on the ball...your's that is and they squeeze them hard..I have never seen such a ridiculous mess in my life.

If a developer of ANY software can not give you an installer.exe or comply with the way M$ has available to Add/Remove a program..they have no right to be in business..this has gone on long enough with Zone Lab..It is no reflection on any Z-Team member..but this stuff has got to stop.

This is not a rant...the whole thing is just too pathetic for a rant.

No wonder it is so hard to keep your house in order..even some of the Security Software Houses think they oWn you...and it all makes you system more vulnerable than ever.

Hi, Woody. May not have meant it to be, but sure sounds like a rant. Wink

I've been a registered user of ZAP for years and not had any trouble installing, removing, or updating. The update procedure has always been smooth; they continue to improve on a good product. You briefly mentioned "...vulnerable...," too...?? Not at all. I've found ZAP to be the best software-based firewall, cost- and performance-wise. Yes

The rants I saw in the URL posted appeared to be from those who purchase software from Broderbun, rather than through reliable sites who also provide for online purchase. Broderbun is a company that should be avoided like the plague Eck ; they make it appear as if they own products they sell, but in most cases this is totaly untrue (e.g., ZAP, NTI, etc). That they sell some products through some deal with the real owners, letting them make mods that cause various problems is something users should really rant about; ZAP, NTI and others, are authored by concientous teams and may not be aware of what's going on behind their backs... To flame Zone Labs, though, is unfair when unwarranted, as in these cases. But, then, many flames against various products are unwarranted to begin with, stemmed by incorrect opsys setups, improper updating (if any) of the opsys; on top of that, installation of software that can work properly right off the bat, but are being configured in such a way as to compound pre-existing and underlying problems, or the software just amplify system troubles. I've seen it happen continually, since pc's were invented, then along came modems, Gates, etc. Wink

BTW, the most current version of ZAP is 4.0.123.012...not sure why a v3 was mentioned before as being new. I use the internal update procedure, then log onto Zone Labs and download the file to keep on CD archives. Good luck and best wishes to all! Party Rock

Hi

BTW, the most current version of ZAP is 4.0.123.012...not sure why a v3 was mentioned before as being new

That reference would be because my original post was Posted: Wed Jul 10, 2002 2:56 pm. Basically I had made a pig's ear of trying to provide accurate, up-to-date information; on that instance I got it wrong. I did say as much in an edit on that post. I'm surprised it's still an issue more than a year later..... but there we are......

Embarassed Embarassed Embarassed My extremely sincere apologies for being a nut case:bananas: on this one!

Of course, it's not an issue had I just noticed the year (as it was, I figured July 10th might have been stretching it) and should/would never have replied!! I just glanced through the forum lists, decided to look in; glanced at the date, but didn't pay any attention to the year. No I noticed your edit, but didn't exactly get it's meaning; the mention of v3x as being new should have made me look a bit more carefully. My back meds and lack of sleep have me a bit loopy at times. Confused Thx for not simply running me through the mill on this one - I'll try to pay more attention.

Regards,
Tom

PS This is for Woody, too! Wink
