I get the message 'AOL/OSCAR authentication failed'.
If you encounter this error when attempting to check an AOL email account in MailWasher Pro, try the following:
1)
Make sure that all AOL software is closed on your computer ? this includes AOL, AOL Communicator and AOL Instant Messenger. Retry your MailWasher Pro mail check. If your mail check is successful this time you can then restart any AOL software as required without affecting MailWasher Pro's ability to check your mail. However if for any reason you restart MailWasher Pro you will need to repeat this procedure.
2)
In AOL, click Settings>>Parental Controls.
Click on the Screen Name that you are trying to use in MailWasher Pro.
If the 'Current Age Category' is set to 'Kids Only', this should be changed by clicking on the 'Edit Age Category' button and selecting any one of the other options, then clicking Save>>Yes>>OK. Click 'Edit IM Control'. Make sure that the 'Block Instant Messaging' box is NOT ticked.
Click Save>>OK.
Exit AOL, return to MailWasher Pro and check your account again.
3)
Make sure you are using your AIM password. )It is possible to have two passwords one for AOL and AIM)
