Having trouble logging in?

There are two places where as a registered user of Computer Cops one may login. On the home page (our front page), the right hand side has a login block that looks like this:

Quote:

The second path to take for logging into the portal is via the Your Account module. Here is the link: http://computercops.biz/modules.php?name=Your_Account

Clicking on said link brings up a page like this:

Quote:

Notice how both sections make use of three distinct entries:
  • Nickname
  • Password
  • Security Code

All three text fields must be entered correctly in order to establish a cookie, and therefore a successful login. One problem may present itself with this configuration: Many privacy applications view the security code image itself as something bad and filter it out. Rest assured that this image is used only as a security caution. You must enter the number shown there in order to gain entry.

Ok so you are seeing the number and still cannot login? Ensure you are allowing cookies to be written to your computer from our portal.

Need a new password?

If you have lost your password and cannot get back into the site, then simply click on the Lost Password link under the Your Account page, or click here:

http://computercops.biz/modules.php?nam...=pass_lost

You will see a page like this:

Quote:

On that page are instructions to generate a new password:

Quote:
No problem. Just type your Nickname and click on send button. We will send an automatic Email to you with your Confirmation Code, then you need to re-type your Nickname and type your Cofirmation Code and we will send to you a new password.

In essence, it is a two-step process:
  • Enter your nickname
  • Press send
  • Receive email with your confirmation code -- this ensures that you own your email address and no one else does
  • Go back to the lost password page and re-enter your nickname
  • Enter the confirmation code you received in email
  • Click send
  • A new password is now sent to your email address
  • Login via the login instructions above

Can I change my password?

Sure! While you are logged in, simply go into the Your Account page, and click on Change Your Info. It'll take you to this link basically:

http://computercops.biz/modules.php?nam...p=edituser

From there you will find a line to change your password and save it.

It doesn't work!
Here is my testing and instructions on what I did to successfully obtain a confirmation code, new password, login, and change password manually:

I used a different TLD (.us) so I can stay logged into the .biz cookie:

I went into this module:

http://computercops.us/modules.php?name=Your_Account

To log in. But, I pretended that I didn't know my password. So I clicked
the "Lost your Password?" link:

http://computercops.us/modules.php?...=pass_lost

I then submitted my uname in the "Nickname" field leaving the
Confirmation Code field blank and clicked the "Send Password" button.

In a flash I got an email containing the Confirmation Code. I clicked
back in the browser and re-entered my uname, plus the confirmation
code. Then I clicked Send Password a second time.

Now in a giffy I got an email telling me my new password.

So I went back to the link at top to log back in. I entered my nickname,
new password, and security code and logged in.

Then, I went into the Your Account's "Change Your Info" link:

http://computercops.us/modules.php?...p=edituser

From here near the bottom I supplied my new password twice and clicked the
"Save Changes" button. I then logged out completely and logged back in
using the top link and the newly saved password. It worked.

To be crystal: Do Not Use the change your password in the *Profile*section, it does not work. That's where some folks are getting an error. The error states that your password does not match the one in our database.

You HAVE to go to *Account* at the top and use that Change password area there....then your change will take place.

Are you following these steps? I try these steps myself every once in a while and have yet been unable to duplicate any issues that are reported.

If you have registered, gone through the above procedure and are still having difficulty logging in, there may be a cookie conflict on your computer.

Confirm that you are logged out of ComputerCops
Close the Browser
Go to Control Panel > Internet Options > General > Temporary Internet Files > Delete Cookies then Delete Files
Return to ComputerCops and Log in

Thanks
