|
|
From this article: http://www.usatoday.com/news/washington...-dna_x.htm
"WASHINGTON — DNA profiles from hundreds of thousands of juvenile offenders and adults arrested but not convicted of crimes could be added to the FBI's national DNA crime-fighting program under a proposed law moving through Congress.
The law, if enacted, would be the greatest single expansion of the federal government's power to collect and use DNA since the FBI's national database was created in 1992. The FBI says its national DNA database holds genetic profiles from about 1.4 million adults convicted of state and federal crimes."
(Read the rest of it, okay?)
Sound like a good idea to y'all? I think not.

Scary to know that so much power is being wielded by persons that we don't even know, or may never have even heard of...and their actions and decisions will affect all of us in the future...

Have this in UK. Arrest automatically brings with it the taking of samples to be added to DNA database.
Even scarier, was a recent proposition that all newborn infants be implanted with a RFID, purely for and in the interests of the infants concerned. Government claimed that it would deter would be baby/ child snatchers, would be an invaluable aid in medical emergencies etc. etc.
This put on back burner due to pressure from public and civil liberties groups. One things for sure, it will happen one day.
We'll all be told that it is for our own good and, if we have done nothing wrong and have nothing to hide, we have nothing to fear. This is all dreamed up by those who wield the real power, the suits and shadows in and around Whitehall. They are always there, no matter which government is in power(?)
Am l worried by this? To damn right l am. |

In the UK? Not enough to be able to buy your own home!
Government looking to build new "affordable" housing for essential public sevice workers such as Police, Nurses, Teachers and Fire Fighters.
Something radically wrong with a system that does not pay enough for people to live where they work.
We have Fire Fighters commuting over two hundred miles each way because they can't afford to live in the towns and cities where they are stationed.
Police officers and Nurses can live in barrack style accomodation, but it's not somewhere you can call home. |
