|
|
I just set MWP to 'Email me a summary of MailWasher Pro's activity' -> 'Every Week'. MWP subsequently reported that MWP had sent a summary so I attempted to download into my client. However, the client indicated no progress and timed out with an error report, as it turns out, because B9 hung on the download consisting of 2064 message lines. Even after the client timed out, B9 remained chewing up 80 - 100% of my dual CPU processing cycles. I tried killing the B9 process, restarting it, and again downloading the message only to have it happen yet again. I had to temporarily bypass B9 in order to download the report.
Somewhat ironic I'd say, since both these products are designed by FireTrust. Has anyone else noticed a problem receiving MWP log summaries when parsing via B9?

Hi Ikeb
You can try increasing your incoming mail (POP3) server timeout.
I have mine set at 5 minutes in Outlook Express. The maximum.
I have had the same result myself and will test again and then pass on to the developers.
Please email me.
Thanks

I successfully download a daily MWP summary (about 200 to 300 messages) through B9 with no problem. My e-mail program is Pegasus Mail.

OK thanks for that info Wayward. I was wondering what to expect next time MWP generates a summary. I take it only the logs since the previous summary are mailed out ... or did you have to clear logs daily?

Yes. The summary picks up the messages logged since the last summary report. For example, I just received the summary for Saturday, December 27. It includes about 320 messages processed during the 24 hour period since the last summary.
I do not routinely clear the logs. The first line of the summary does indicate a number of e-mails received ... this is a fairly large number and probably reflects the total number of messages in the complete log. However, only the messages received since the last summary are included in the summary details.
I'm really not sure why the first line is included ... other than to perhaps indicate the total size of the log. Maybe I'll break down, clear the log, and find out.
