hi, i didn't know if this was the correct forum to post this in but i'll give it a shot. i've looked at numerous sites and the symantec site as well, but to no avail.

if NAV auto-protect is loaded and i try to reboot my computer an error message comes up that it couldn't load properly, i believe because of the configuration files (?) and it takes me to what looks like a form of safe mode. i reinstalled norton, but it was still giving the same error. if i turn off AUTO-PROTECT it reboots fine. if i try to turn back on AUTO-PROTECT it gives a similar error. i updated norton and scanned and it doesn't detect any virii. any suggestions?

thanks in advance.

Welcome, we need a closer look..........but First:
Virus=Read This: http://www.computercops.biz/postt8864.html
HiJack= Read This: http://www.computercops.biz/postt911.html

Go to http://tomcoyote.org/hjt/, and download Hijack This.

Create and Unzip to a folder not your Desktop or the Temp folder, doubleclick HijackThis.exe, and hit "Scan".

When the scan is finished, the "Scan" button will change into a "Save Log" button.
Press that, save the log somewhere, and please show us its contents.

Most of what it lists will be harmless or even required, so do NOT fix anything yet.
Someone here will be happy to help you analyze the results.
