Can't register Benign

I am a registered user of Benign. When I downloaded the current copyand put in my registration code, it says it's not valid. Are upgrades not free or what?

I would have thought that the current registration is in the registry somewhere and wouldn't have to be re-entered. Mind you I haven't upgraded B9 in a long time so can't recall that it works this way for certain....
