|
|
I am running Pegasus Mail on WinNT and have just installed B9.
When trying to download mail I get the folowing error message:
'Pegasus Mail has encountered an unidentified error on your TCP/IP network. The error code returned to Pegasus Mail was 0H. Further information on this problem is unavailable - please check that your TCP/IP software is correctly installed and configured and that there are no problems with your TCP/IP network at present.'
This only happens when going through B9 as when I remove .b9 from the server host name and retry the mail comes through!
Can anybody please advise!

Martyn,
What version of Pegasus Mail are you running? I have V4.12a (Win32) and have an intermittant TCP/IP message when closing the program. I have not seen the problem you describe when checking mail.
I first saw the Pegasus shutdown message after changing from Win98 to XP Home. I assumed a problem with the operating system and haven't thought about doing any testing with and without Benign running. I'll poke around a bit. There might be a common thread.

Hi Wayward
I am also running Pegasus Mail 4.12a.
Something I failed to mention was that I have four accounts set up on Pegasus and the error message first appeared on one of them but there was no problem with the previous accounts, then it was ok with that particular account but the error message came up trying to download with another account instead. This points to a sporadic problem with B9 because it only happens when going through B9 which also tells me that there is not a problem with the TCP/IP setup.
I wonder if there is a conflict with B9 and version 4.12a in particular or with the OS platforms because both of are problems seem to be intermittent.
Let me know how you get on with your trial and error.

I wonder what B9 is?
I have a similar error with my pegasus mail, unknown TCP/IP error 0H.
It's a error that comes and goes, nothing immediately obvious, and Pegasus works fine for some users, other get constant timeouts and unknown 0H error.
I'm lost, no idea where to find the problem.
Using Vpop and zone alarm on the server FYI |

i'm useing 4.02 with the german language module.
the tcp/ip error occured first after upgrading my system. the new board had a onboard network chip from via. receive works find. but i can't send anything out. all other networking works fine. as i could not find any solution, i jut put in a cheep realtec-based network-card and everything runs fine again.
now i've upgraded to 1g network-cards (with realtec chipset) and i've got the tcp/ip error too.
the problem must be somewhere inside pegasus, all other networking runs fine. |

i've forgotten to mention the following:
very short messages (10-20 characters) can be sent!
but playing with the MTU size does not solve the problem (standard is 1500, but i've tried 1492, 1480 and even 572) |

I agree there seems to be a strange IP reporting condition with Pegasus Mail and Windows XP. For me, there is an alert message when closing the program after a mail check. The message relates to a running IP task. The alert message is absolutely repeatable.
If I check mail through Benign, I do not receive the IP alert message. The IP mail check task seems to be cleanly handed off to Benign and there is no resudual alert condition when I close Pegasus.
This is an observation only ... I don't pretend to understand why.

i've got a solution:
the problem occured on windows 2000. the installed version is sp3 (german). upgrading to sp4 everything runs fine now. both the onboard via rhine and the additional realtek 1G have no longer any tcp/ip errors!
i still don't understand why only pegasus had problems with these two network-chips, but now i'm happy again. both pm versions - the old 4.02 with german language kit, and the new german 4.12 - are fine with windows 2000 sp4.
with windows 2000 use sp2 or sp4 but don't use sp3! |

|

I too received the OH error code... but only with one of my accounts. (I am using Pegasus 4.12a with 5 user accounts. Only one account gave me any problems. The problem appeared immediately following a WINXP security patch update
Here's how I fixed it..
I temporarily disabled the antivirus software (Norton AntiVirus) that scanned my incoming messages. Apparently there was a malformed header in one of the emails waiting for download. Norton didn't like it apparently and refused to download any emails waiting in the batch... instead producing the OH error. Once I disabled Norton Antivirus, all emails downloaded immediately with no error. After downloading the problem emails (and deleting anything that looked suspicious) I reactivated NAV... no further problems.
I suspect that others using any antivirus program may be able to try the same fix. It might be a good idea to use your antivirus program to scan the PMAIL folder immediately after downloading and BEFORE opening any email to aviod possible virus infection.
Good Luck! |

I'm now getting the error just started recently. Running win98 se, seemed to start just after installing Yahoo - Instant Messenger. Get the problem when sending emails, works on only a few email addresses and not on the rest.
Running 4.01, will update to 4.12 and see what happens. |

Dave (Jan 20, 2004) was very helpful. (on Windows 2000)
used same approach--disabled Norton Virus checker and retried to use PEGASUS. It gave a different error message, then I re-booted the machine, disabled virus checker, and down loaded successfully.
Problem is now resolved.
Thank, Dave |

I have had the identical problem, running Pegasus 4.12a, W2K Pro, and Norton Anti-Virus. When I turn off Norton, the problem goes away. But there must be a way to get Pegasus to cooperate. So far, I understand it has to do with "Identities" I have 6, and it only produces this error with one of them. That's as far as I had time to investigate, so far. But I would like to turn Norton back on.
