ISPs/Telecom

August 20, 2002 -- (WEB HOST INDUSTRY REVIEW) -- Internet communications provider WorldCom Inc. (WorldCom.com) announced on Tuesday that it has added WorldCom Managed Firewall to its suite of managed security services, designed to enhanced the protection of enterprise data.

WorldCom says its global Managed Firewall will help businesses define and implement a single security policy company-wide by offering unique capabilities through its online security customer portal like real-time access to ticked information.

“As security threats become more sophisticated, WorldCom continues to extend its security services to deliver proactive solutions for our multinational customers,” says Jim DeMerlis, WorldCom vice president of Product Management. “WorldCom’s global Managed Firewall is truly an advanced firewall service, because it delivers the strongest level of protection coupled with unparalleled performance management and monitoring capabilities.”

Based on Check Point Software’s Internet security technology, and packaged with a flexible range of hardware options, says WorldCom, the managed firewall solution is available for global deployment. The service includes URL blocking, annual third-party security scans, configuration back-ups and disaster recovery support.

The product is designed to function with WorldCom’s Internet collocation, IP VPN Dedicated, Internet Dedicated and remote access services, providing the strongest levels of security. The managed firewall is available for a monthly fee, starting at $1,400.
