Howdy,

There needs to be an easier way for our European friends to go Premium/donate here too. Several had the same problem I did with a new PayPal account and they want to be able to do electronic transfer. I would love that myself but I don't think that could be done...shame on American banks as the Europeans are so much farther advanced in useful, easy ways to transfer funds than we are. |
It is possible.
It's called "IBAN" (International Bank Account Number). With the IBAN from CCSP I could send money direct to the CCSP account with a remark "Donation" or "Request for Premium Membership". I know it works because when I buy something over ebay in the States I send the money to my mothers account so she can pay my bill there. The bank is a little Hometown Farmers Bank. Any FDIC Bank will have this service. The only reason I know about IBAN is because Dad is a Banker.
Just wanted to help out so that I can get Premium Membership and the trouble/cost for a $10 cashiers check in Germany is just too much!

Howdy,
If you can read German then check out the Paypal.de agreement on the website - no way am I going to use Paypal - just too much crap.
I can transfer money faster, easier, safer and with more control with my IBAN.
Maybe mom will donate/premium for me. I'll have to ask.

I took a chance and posted $10.00 note by ordinary letter post and I have to say, to my surprise, it arrived OK.
I think that is just lucky.

Yes we are getting regular mail with donations and the like. PayPal is a big provider and we've never had issues with them either thru the business or personally.
I'm checking with folks for authorize.net and possibly getting merchant accounts. But at $100 something setup and $20 per month, then transactions fees etc it doesn't make sense. Now I know why many sites aren't running as merchants.
We setup an account number for anyone that would like to wire to us, but there is a $10 transaction fee for receiving funds. So if you are sending $10, the bank takes it all. This would only be appropriate for sufficiently large fund transfers.
So for the time being, its PayPal or regular mail checks/money orders.

For the record and of particular interest to our European members, there is PayPal Europe. This affords European protection for European residents and of course, European law takes precedence.
I use it regularly and have no complaints. Simply follow the golden rule of going directly to PayPal; do not respond to e-mail from them or those purporting to be them. Safe transfers not a problem this way.

I was on a site to-day, can't remember where but sure enough there
was the rabbit munching away merrily. Same rabbit, different handler, or maybe same handler different identity. It's true.

A prominantly visible (a la Paypal) link covering all possible avenues of donation and premium member fees, with clear explanations would possibly be a boon. I've been clicking around seeking info on my stripped down Commadore 64 with an old LCD watch crystal monitor running off a calculator solar strip and it's slow.
What is the minimum donation for premium membership?
I assume International Money Orders would be acceptable?
A heartfelt message to sabateurs.....gigabyteme

Hmm, cheap enough at that. perhaps a little more of a premium for a premium membership might be in order. In the meantime, I'll get one for my dog, too.
Thanks, Mariner.

There are easier ways to get yourself a Premium Membership. As you can see, I became a Premium Member this weekend by just using my credit card.

Howdy,
I tend to be a cash person since I got burnt with my CC online once! I even went so far as to get rid of it after that. Lost a lot of money proving that I had not made purchases, paying my lawyer etc. etc..
