Rusticdog,
This might be helpful to you and others ... Windows98se.
I found a legacy nsreg.dat file (October, 2002) in c:\windows that does not create a Benign problem. It's probably a legacy from Netscape. Running ZAP 4 Cache Cleaner does not overwrite this legacy file and does not create a Benign problem.
I deleted the legacy file and ran Cache Cleaner again. A new (empty) nsreg.dat file was created ... and it does cause the Stack Overflow error on Benign start-up. Deleting the new nsreg.dat file eleminates the Benign Stack Overflow problem.
Apparently, a legacy nsreg.dat file could mask the problem. Deleting nsreg.dat and not running ZAP 4 Cache Cleaner is a clear workaroud ... and the pending Benign beta should wrap up this little adventure.

If so, there's no problem reloading Zap4, turning off the cache cleaner and waiting for the release of the B9 upgrade. |
Based on my testing with Windows98se, the answer to both questions is "yes." Your milage may vary with other versions of Windows; however, getting rid of nsreg.dat and and not creating another one with the ZAP 4 cache cleaner would seem to do the trick.

So all our testing has indicated. Yes.

Or is the new upgrade essentially okay to go now? |
No complaints so far, but too early to tell of any other possible bugs that may be present in the program. If I haven't received notice of anything by Monday I'll begin the process of the new version release, and have it ready for Friday (assuming nothing else has arisen since then).
