Paul, you stick to coding. Better that and no glory than being a proctologist and getting covered in.........Don't need an Autoclave or gloves for coding either. |

I resemble those comments. BTW, I just added a quick new topic function. When you go into any forum at the bottom is a quick new topic form.

Speaking of play on words, Cockney anyone?
Consider your own island abode. With the wealth of dialets and idiosincracies of each, why even look across the pond? .... Isn't it one country divided by but a single language.

UK historically, made up of many Tribes, hence many dialects. A man from Kent can travel to East Anglia and not be able to understand a word.
Tis said that the purest form of modern english WAS spoken by the inhabitants of New England, prior to the pioneering days when the West was opened up. East Coast American english became "contaminated" by the language used by the pioneers, who had to be able to describe places and things never seen before. So, it could be argued that the last place to have used english properly were the eastern parts of the USA.
I know it'll go down like a lead balloon in some quarters but, that which is spoken in lowland Scotland is more akin to "olde english" than anything else.

This is way out on a tangent so, not seeing any forum for language discussions, I posted my response in the Tavern.
