Hey all I'm new to this site and have a problem thats been bugging me for WEEKS. I was running a small server off of my computer using the ftp port (port 21) and Serv-U software. HOWEVER I got a virus called Win32Jeet ? and it hijacked my browser and infected my computer. I was able to remove the virus however now my port 21 (and most others) are closed and I dont know how to open them. I'm running windows xp professional, have tried using hijack this and adaware but to no avail with freeing up my ports and I'm getting VERY frustrated with this. Any help would be GREATLY appreciated. Thanks in advance !

Can you run a 'netstat -an' and report the results?

Ok, you certainly don't have port 21 listening then. And you say you cannot get your ftp server to run anymore?

Yup ever since i had that virus I cant get the Serv-U ftp serer software to run because I cant figure out how to open um my port 21 for it. I think it might be something in windows because when i scan ports on that computer it says 21 is closed but when i scan on my laptop 21 is open.

When you run the ftp server, it should already open up that port. My guess is you have a firewall then that is blocking external access to it?
