Proxomitron - The end of an Epoch |
|
|
A wonderfully glorious age has come to an end unfortunately. Proxomitron will no longer be developed. The authors comments are below.
Versions 4.4 and the newest 4.5 are and forever will be available for download at ComputerCops.biz.
Soon, for posterity, all previous releases shall also be available for download from the same site.
Perhaps I'm seeking a way to obtain as many supportive users as possible to rally to Scott and try to keep this program from coming to an end.
In such an effort, please respond with your comments to this new article. Lets show Scott our support and dedication for his free work in preserving our privacy.

|
|
Posted by
April, 13, 2003
The following has been announced by the author of the Proxomtiron. As he has already noted within the readme.txt as well as the changlog.txt files this beta has many new functions including the ad of a a new Dom filter.
Quote by Scott R. Lemmon - Proxomition's Author
I'm releasing a kind of "limited" beta test for the next version of Proxomitron (no fanfare yet - I just plan to mention it on the forums and list). Quite a lot has changed under the hood and I want to do kind of a test run to shake out any new bugs. Still, anyone who's interested in checking it out can grab it from here..."

Just was browsing the Proxomitron User List at Yahoo when I came across this message by Scott R. Lemmon the author of The Proxomitron - Univeral Web Filter.
The exploit as follows:
Sending a parameter with a buffer of 1024 bytes in length or more, causes Proxomitron Naoko to crash.
This vulnerability can be easily exploited to execute code.

Editorials: Media player error C00D1085 (and C00D11B3) |
|
|
Anonymous writes "The error mentioned causes your mediaplayer to ping for your proxy instead of the gateway. This results in annoying popups of proxy authentication(when you're lucky, if not it won't connect at all....)
This workaround is quicker and better than the microsucks' solution, which doesn't work in all cases anyway.
Install proxomitron, define your proxy and in advanced settings your authentication data. Whenever problematic, switch on the authentication filter. Get necessary data from the logwindow.
redirect ONLY your mediaplayer to the proxomitron or use your browser settings.
