Cant run windows update!

please help! im on windows ME and i cant run windows update. everytime i click on review and install updates, it just does nothing and when i keep clicking it, it gives the 'send error report" popup. I also get that popup when im semding mail or siging on to msn messenger or running housecall and many other things. im using mozilla right now b/c i couldnt even log in this webiste w/o getting send error
report message. some unknow favorites like : 'travel' and 'computers' also apperaed, all linking to this site: http://searchweb2.com/search/search.cgi...=bookmarks

have you tried going to http://v4.windowsupdate.microsoft.com/en/default.asp

sometime running it manually will re lay down the missing files, and at very least will allow you to get the latest updates. Now I have seen it where you go there to get the updates and you can't update there either. but lets start with that and see how we make out.

but wait, appx, thats is where i always go to get my update files. If i click on anything in the left frame above 'other options', it gives me a send erroe report popup. If i click on anything in the right frame after its finished scanning for updates, it doesnt do anything at all. I keep getting more and more favorite links going to porn and search sites. I did the most deepest scan w/ adaware, it gave me a 'possible browser hijack attempt'. hijack this has the same log as the one posted before.
help is wanted.
also, appx what do you mean by running it manually? is there some other way other than clicking on the links?[/b]
