AVG is installed on my system and the resident scanner notifies me that the above subject mentioned virus is on my machine, and it prompts me to run AVG to clean. Unfortunately, nothing is found by AVG during the scan. I can't seem to locate any information on this particular virus anywhere and could use some help trying to determine what I should do to get rid of it. Thanks for your help in advance!

When you get doubtful results from your AV, my policy is to get a second opinion. Try downloading and running (seperately from AVG) another freeware AV and see if this helps?

You could (for example) try using Antivir Free Personal Edition.

If it does not detect a problem you may have a false positive. If you are still unsure there are free online scans you can get. For further info go to Virus Advisories and Weblinks in this forum.

Welcome to Computer Cops! Very Happy

Thanks for the response... I figured out the problem though... I needed to delete my win xp restore files. AVG was detecting the problem in the restore files, but when I scanned it would not locate it. After turning off and back on again the windows restore the problem went away.

Hi Jbucko

Once you've scanned with HJT, the "Scan" button will change into a "Save Log" button.
Press that, save the log in a text file, and post it in the CCSP "Spyware - Hijack This" forum:

http://computercops.biz/forum67.html

Most of what it lists will be harmless or even required, so do NOT fix anything yet.
Someone here will be happy to help you analyze the results.

u can also go to the computer cops' download and find a anti trojan named trojan hunter 3.8(its free for only 30 days) he will find the problem but if it write like possible, then u will have to open the possible file with the trojan in it and active resident shield on avg and then, if a trojan is in, he will ask if u accept that the trojan come into ur computer(ask no:-) and then, u have the trojan virus in ur result of avg
