you are still at the bookies and forgot about the investigation

So it seems that having multiple profiles in Windows XP requires running several programs individually on each account (Spybot, Hijack Tthis, Adaware).
Makes for a bit of extra work doesn't it folks ?

Well it certainly explains those inconsistant times when computers still are acting up despite doing a complete fix (Spybot, Hijack this, Adaware).

Raises the question whether not only anti-spyware spyware software but also anti-virus and anti-trojan software must be run individually on all user accounts on XP machines. Suppose the only way one knows for sure is to contact the author's/manufacturer's of the specific software one is using |

I have just checked to see is SpywareGuard was running on all profiles in XP. It was only running on mine, so I added the sgmain.exe i all profiles under Start>Programs>Startup, and it's running under all profiles now. |

Good call teejoo, this wasn't something I considered when I moved up to XP, only found out by accident. I'll have to check on everything else when I have a spare moment. I also have ME installed on another drive as a back up and have to repeat the whole process there as well.

You need to ensure that every anti-spyware application you use is running on each profile, don't just assume that they all are.
BTW lilliebet, sorry I had to leave you all alone at the tavern yesterday.
This is soooo sloooow. Wait for it, almost there, "Performing scheduled maintenance".

When I log onto XP in the usual way the four profiles for the family members show up. If I logon in safe mode however a 5th account, labelled "Administrator" shows up. As I have administrative privileges anyway I am wondering about the purpose of this extra account. Does it allow me to do anything I cannot do from the regular login ? Is it possible that running spyware applications like Adaware, Spybot etc would work for all profiles if run from here ?
