Hey I have been running AVG free edition in conjunction with Adaware,Hijack this,Spybot and CW shredder against viruses and other annoyances...This worked fine for ages but all of a sudden AVG will not update...at the same time it keeps telling me its found a trojan in c/volume information and to run AVG, so I do and it tells me nothing is there!hmm so I did a trojan scan through trojanscan.com and when it gets to c/volume information it says access is denyed.
I know i obviously dont know much about c/volume information...i cant even find it on my computer but im beggining to wonder..does this trojan actually exist ??if so how to get rid of it?and why wont AVG update anymore?aiieeee

If AVG has found and quarantined a trojan, other scans may not detect it, this doesn't mean that it isn't still there. If you run AVG while in safe mode, it may be able to heal the trojan.

JO,
I USE AVG AND HAVEN'T FOUND ANYTHING ELSE AS GOOD .
DID YOU LOOK IN THE VIRUS VAULT TO SEE IF IT'S THERE?
YOU CAN SAFELY DELETE FROM THE VIRUS VAULT, ACCORDING TO THE SUPPORT AT GRISOFT DOT COM.
LATELY I HAVEN'T HAD SO MANY NETSKY I-WORM VARIATIONS IN MY VIRUS VAULT EVER AND THEY WERE ALL DELETED SAFELY, I'VE HAD NETSKY-C,NETSKY -D AND NETSKY-J.
AND THERE ARE TWO OTHER VARIATIONS OUT THERE DETECTED SO FAR THAT ARE CALLED NETSKY-L AND- M
WHY DON'T YOU DOWN LOAD THE EVALUATION VERSION OF TROJAN HUNTER AND RUN IT ?
YOU CAN GO TO THE DOWN LOADS HERE AT CCSP AND MAKE IT EASY AND CONVENIENT.
FREEDOM FROM VIRUSES AND WORMS AND TROJANS MEANS ALWAYS BEING VIGILANT AND ACTING AGRESSIVELY & APPROPRIATELY IN A TIMELY FASHION.

Hello jojojo,

Try deleting the trojan from the AVG Virus Vault:

On the "AVG for Windows" control panel:

Click "Program"
Click "AVG Virus Vault"
Click on the list item you wish to delete
Click on the "Delete" icon (wastebasket)

For more detailed info, see your AVG Help file. icon_smile.gif

AVG vault is empty
The funny thing is is that the AVG resident sheild informs me of the trojan in a pop up window, telling me to run AVG for windows....when run there is nothing found
I tried running it in safe mode but it would not open,(core driver missing)
I have uninstalled AVG and re installed it with the latest downloaded version but it still refuses to update even when it tells me it has,it then continues to prompt me to update..
the trojans name is startpage 3.b or something...Ill wait till the warning pops up again and post its full details.
