Just reading your answer to "eatmoredirt" What is the point of religion? To tell people that there going to hell because they dont believe in god?
For me... to have that mind set of...God said it , I believe it, thats that...would require me to discount the wonderfull brain that God has given me...and simply disbelieve my innermost thought processes.
I know Jesus spoke a lot about hell....I am also aware of the warnings that Jesus gives concerning causing his little ones to stumble...so please believe me that is not my intention...
For me and a lot of other people "who have not bowed their knee to Baal" the problem with the doctrine of hell is the following.....
The wages for sin is far worse than the sin in the first place!!!!....the punishment is worse than the crime!!!...please explain how a loving father can commit His son or daughter or even his worst enemy to Hell....
This earthly existance might last 70 years it might last 120 years...how can you compare 70 or 120 years living on this earth...perhaps living a good life helping others.... but for what ever reason never recieving Christ as Lord and saviour....for that crime (sin) that person could be your best friend your mother your father...will go to hell and suffer in absolute agony.... not for 70 or 120 years.... but for ever and ever never ending pain and suffering...I would have to say that judge sounds more like the devil than God.
No wonder a lot of would be christians reject the the message..... |

Hey, when one of you guys get to heaven or hell, can you give me a call, tell me what it's like, so I can make up my mind about what I want to believe?
Unanswered questions requires faith, faith requires belief in unanswered questions. Is it possible everyone is right but also wrong at the same time? Seems to me all this discussion hasn't changed any minds. Quite interesting reading though... |
